Arsenal aim to have Viktor Gyokeres fit and available for the North London Derby after the international break.
Gyokeres was forced off at half-time of the Gunners’ game against Burnley on Saturday afternoon with an unspecified muscular injury.
The North London club’s medical staff were initially not certain of the nature of the injury, although Mikel Arteta confirmed that Gyokeres would miss the clash with Slavia Prague on Tuesday night.
HandofArsenal on X has now revealed that Arsenal are targeting the Tottenham match on November 23rd as his prospective return date.
The club are said to be ‘relaxed’ over the setback, although they will be conducting further tests.
Gyokeres will miss the Gunners’ game against Sunderland on Saturday evening.
Who could replace Viktor Gyokeres against Sunderland?
Mikel Merino was disappointing up front off the bench against Burnley at the weekend.
The Spaniard looked clunky in the centre-forward role, while he wasn’t able to offer much of a goal threat in his 45-minute cameo.
That said, Arteta may lean on the midfielder to play as an unconventional number nine against the Black Cats, with Gyokeres and Kai Havertz both out injured.
The only other viable option is Leandro Trossard, who has played as a striker previously for the Gunners.
