Mikel Arteta has shared an injury update on Viktor Gyokeres ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Slavia Prague.
It’s been three wins from three in the Champions League so far for Mikel Arteta’s side, but the clash with Slavia will bring an entirely different test.
That’s because Arsenal are experiencing an injury crisis, with the players on the sidelines added to against Burnley as Viktor Gyokeres was hurt.
It was later confirmed that Gyokeres suffered a muscular injury and, concerningly, he hasn’t been in training since.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Slavia Prague, Arteta shared the following update on his striker’s fitness.
“No he’s not available, he hasn’t trained today and we need to do some more tests and scans to understand the extent of the injury.”

Who replaces Viktor Gyokeres against Slavia Prague?
It’s a blow for Arsenal as Gyokeres had his best performance of the season against Burnley.
The Swede’s injury leaves Arteta with a bit of a selection headache, as fellow strikers Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are still out.
Leandro Trossard could play in the number nine role, as could Ethan Nwaneri.
After Andre Harriman-Annous made his Arsenal debut against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, the teenager was included in first-team training ahead of facing Prague, so he too could be an option.
None of the forwards listed are as clinical as Gyokeres can be, giving Arteta something to carefully consider ahead of the match.
