Arsenal prepared to face Brentford to in their final Premier League clash before travelling to Madrid to play at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid were comfortably beaten by Arsenal in midweek, with the Gunners building an unassailable lead ahead of the second leg.

However, the North Londoners’ state of affairs in the league are very different, as they sit eleven points behind leaders Liverpool with just seven games remaining.

Mikel Arteta named a much-changed team with the trip to the Spanish capital in mind, although there was no room in the squad for Ben White, who might’ve expected to start.

Ben White not in Arsenal squad to face Brentford

White has struggled since returning from injury, with his performances clearly indicating that he’s still dealing with fitness issues following such a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

In need of minutes to get back to his best, the right-back won’t have the opportunity to build momentum against Brentford, not making the matchday squad.

According to Football.London, White picked up a knock in training, which has forced him to sit out of the clash with Thomas Frank’s side.

There’s no news yet on the severity of the knock, although there’s hope that it’s nothing serious.

Arteta still rested Jurrien Timber, with Thomas Partey named as the starting right-back.

Arsenal team news vs Brentford

Arteta opted to rotate heavily last weekend against Everton, and he’s done the same in this game.

The likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, Jorginho and Ethan Nwaneri have all come into the side.

Zinchenko is expected to feature in midfield against the Bees, with Leandro Trossard leading the line and Nwaneri and Gabriel Martinelli supporting the Belgian on the wings.

The likes of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino could all make an impact off the bench.
