Relegated Southampton could now embarrass Arsenal this summer as Aaron Ramsdale update emerges

Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has suffered relegation with Southampton.

This is the fourth time that the England international has gone down in his career. That is not a record he will be happy with.

Ramsdale is expected to leave Southampton in the upcoming summer transfer window. He is way too good to be playing in the Championship, and we are sure he will have plenty of suitors.

Now, a report has emerged that highlights a major problem Arsenal have had for many, many years that needs to be solved as soon as possible.

Southampton’s demands to sell Aaron Ramsdale highlights major Arsenal problem

Arsenal sold Ramsdale to Southampton for an initial £18 million last summer.

Add-ons were included in that deal that would’ve taken the fee up to £25 million, but given that Southampton have gone down now, there won’t be much income on that front.

Arsenal even missed out on £1 million when the Saints got relegated.

Now, The Times have claimed that West Ham want to sign Ramsdale, and Southampton are ready to sell him for £20 million.

If that happens, it would be embarrassing for Arsenal.

Imagine selling a goalkeeper like Ramsdale who was in the PFA Team of the Season 12 months ago for £18 million and then seeing him get relegated and sold for a bigger fee just a year later.

Arsenal have always been terrible sellers, and that will be proved once again if Southampton sell Ramsdale for more money than they bought him for.

What Arsenal’s board have told Andrea Berta about player sales

Arsenal’s sales over the years have been abysmal.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s £35 million move to Liverpool nearly eight years ago is still the Gunners’ record sale. Other clubs have made a fortune on many of their players since.

That is not sustainable at all, and the club’s board members have recognised that.

That is why Andrea Berta has been ‘internally’ tasked to improve player sales at Arsenal because they should be making a lot more money from that.

It remains to be seen if the Italian can achieve that in the coming windows.
