Why was Dennis Bergkamp in attendance at Girona v Arsenal?

Dennis Bergkamp’s daughter Estelle is engaged to Girona midfielder Donny Van De Beek and the couple had their first child together back in 2022, making Dennis a Grandfather!

Bergkamp has recently hinted at his desire to return to Arsenal one day in some capacity but was supporting his future son-in-law at the game as well as his beloved Gunners.

The Dutch hero would no doubt have been impressed by Ethan Nwaneri’s performance, who starred in the Arsenal player ratings.

After the game, Arteta revealed how he ‘loves’ Nwaneri’s aggression and that was something that former Gunners legend Bergkamp had plenty of in his career, alongside the silky touches and moments of brilliance.

What was Dennis Bergkamp’s greatest Arsenal moment?

Signed from Inter Milan in 1995 for just £7.5m, Bergkamp made 422 appearances for the club and scored an incredible 120 times in all competitions.

It wasn’t just his ability to score that the Dutchman was known for, he had an eye for a pass like nobody else and also contributed 116 assists, Freddie Ljungberg, Ian Wright and a certain Thierry Henry were usually the main beneficiaries.

Whilst there were many memorable moments in an Arsenal shirt for Bergkamp, perhaps the most iconic was his goal away at Newcastle.

He won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his time in North London and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever pull on the famous red and white shirt.
