Arsenal may have to sell in order to buy new players in the current January transfer window.
Arsenal are thought to only have a limited transfer budget at their disposal this winter. However, the club are clearly on the lookout for a new striker.
The north London club have been linked with a number of high profile attackers, and are said to have had a £22 million offer for Borja Mayoral recently rejected by Getafe, who have put a £39 million price tag on the 26-year-old.
Arsenal have also been heavily linked with Ivan Toney, but Brentford want at least £100 million for the once-capped England man.
In any case, the current demands for both Mayoral and Toney appear to be beyond the Gunners’ means. Mikel Arteta may well have to make sacrifices if he is to bring either player to the Emirates Stadium.

Three players Arsenal could sell to fund a new striker signing
Eddie Nketiah
One striker could go out to allow another to come in. Hale End academy graduate Eddie Nketiah has played plenty of football for Arsenal this season, and has shown flashes of quality – most notably securing his maiden Premier League hat-trick against Sheffield United.
In truth, though, the 24-year-old is not of the standard required to fire Arsenal to a title triumph. Crystal Palace have already had their first approach to sign the player rebuffed, but may come back in for him this month.
Aaron Ramsdale
Some of the funds raised from the sale of Aaron Ramsdale would have to go into securing his direct replacement, as Karl Hein is not ready to become the second choice goalkeeper behind David Raya. Considering Ramsdale is currently considered the most valuable goalkeeper in the world, though, there ought to be plenty left over with which to invest in a striker.
The 25-year-old is unsettled at Arsenal, and is clearly not Arteta’s preferred choice between the sticks. At this stage he needs to be playing regular football, so now could be the ideal time for Arsenal to cash in.
Emile Smith Rowe
Former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has already stated that he expects Emile Smith Rowe to leave Arsenal this winter. Another homegrown product, the midfielder is a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium, but does not appear to be in Arteta’s plans.
Arsenal should still be able to fetch a decent fee for him, though, given his obvious potential.
