Former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been letting his personality shine through for Southampton.

Aaron Ramsdale left Arsenal in the recent summer transfer window, joining newly-promoted Southampton.

The shot-stopper needed to leave North London behind, having fallen firmly behind David Raya in the pecking order. It was clear that the England international was no longer in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

However, Ramsdale was always popular with Arsenal fans. Many felt that the 26-year-old was harshly treated by the manager, and had done little to deserve being dropped.

Raya has since justified Arteta’s faith in him, but Ramsdale remains a top player who deserves to be playing week in, week out in the Premier League. He is now doing exactly that for the Saints, and is clearly enjoying himself.

Aaron Ramsdale antics will please Arsenal fans

Ramsdale has always been an enthusiastic presence between the sticks, and something of a character on the pitch.

He plays with his heart on his sleeve, which certainly helped to endear him to the Emirates Stadium faithful. Ramsdale was subdued in his final season at Arsenal, though, as he spent the campaign warming the bench.

During Southampton’s 1-0 win over Everton on Saturday, Ramsdale was seen getting up to his old tricks once again.

As he collected a cross in his penalty area, the ‘keeper was spotted sticking his tongue out and taunting Toffees forward Beto.

Are Arsenal missing Aaron Ramsdale on the pitch?

The 5-cap England star is certainly fondly remembered in North London.

Ramsdale was recently reduced to tears by the reception he received from Arsenal fans when he returned to the Emirates Stadium with Southampton earlier this season.

Those same fans will now be pleased to see him so obviously enjoying his football again. However, Ramsdale’s personality is arguably part of the reason why he ultimately failed to make the grade at Arsenal.

Ramsdale has previously admitted that he struggles to focus for an entire game, and his interactions with the fans and general showmanship is all part of his way of dealing with that. Admitting these distractions will not have endeared him to Arteta, though.
