Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi in a blockbuster deal from Real Sociedad, with the midfielder available through his release clause.

The Gunners are looking to reshape their midfield over the summer, with Jorginho and Thomas Partey linked with exits.

With Martin Zubimendi set for a transfer to Arsenal, the rework in the middle of the pitch should be set for the next few years.

As a result, attention must turn elsewhere for Mikel Arteta and his recruitment team, with other options desperately needed.

Arsenal simply need a forward, with one particular option who should be on the cards after the latest update on Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal must sign Dusan Vlahovic after Martin Zubimendi

While the deal for Zubimendi may be viewed as a promising move, it is one that won’t be confirmed until the summer.

It doesn’t address the short-term need for forwards that Arsenal currently have, with the side screaming out for an addition up front.

The January window is a tough one to operate in, but one that the Gunners have to dip into out of necessity.

With so many injuries and a long-term need for a centre-forward, Arsenal must go out and sign Dusan Vlahovic.

The striker is into the final 18 months of his contract at Juventus and faces an uncertain future at the club if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

The 24-year-old has impressed in Serie A and could be a snip in the market at the right price point.

Scoring at a rate of nearly one goal every two games, Vlahovic could improve that rate in a side like Arsenal.

Dusan Vlahovic on idolizing Cristiano Ronaldo

Vlahovic has previously discussed how he used some of his footballing idols to shape his career when he was younger.

One of those was Cristiano Ronaldo, with the star telling L’Equipe in 2024: “Cristiano Ronaldo, obviously, who I followed from Manchester, when he was a left winger, I liked his movements, his killer instinct, I think he’s one of the best in history.

“Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] I also really liked it, and I liked Fernando Torres with his slightly long hair during his Liverpool days. And then Karim Benzema, a player that I adore.”

Whether the heights of Ronaldo could reflect in the scoring of Vlahovic remains to be seen, but it could be quite the move if he can be just as clinical.
