Cristhian Mosquera marked his return to action for Arsenal with a superb performance in the team’s 3-1 win over Inter Milan.

Arsenal are cruising their way into the Champions League knockout stages after making it seven wins from seven by defeating Inter.

A Gabriel Jesus brace and Viktor Gyokeres’ second-half goal ensured that the Gunners left the San Siro with all three points.

Mikel Arteta made several rotations, including in defence, where Mosquera very capably stepped in for Gabriel Magalhaes.

Cristhian Mosquera is going to be a crucial player for Arsenal

It’s so clear that Cristhian Mosquera is going to become an important player for Arsenal following the Spaniard’s performance against Inter Milan.

The 21-year-old has not played any football since December 3, but away at the San Siro, he seamlessly slotted back into Arsenal’s defence.

Lautaro Martinez had been in great form heading into the match, but he struggled to get much of a kick against Mosquera and William Saliba.

Mosquera was forced off injured against Wolves and has been missing for over a month, so it says a lot about the back line Arteta has built, which allows players to just fill in when needed.

Recently, Arteta admitted Mosquera’s performance levels have surprised him, and he will have been delighted with the defender’s display against Inter.

Away at the San Siro, Mosquera managed eight defensive contributions, 47 touches, and completed 34 passes on a rather impressive evening.

Back in the summer, people inside Arsenal were saying the club had hit the jackpot by signing Mosquera, and he is proving exactly why that is the case.

Andrea Berta paid just £13 million for Mosquera, and he continues to prove why the Italian completed one of the best bargain signings of the season.

Right now, Mosquera is a key squad player, but at just 21, there is every chance that he can develop into a player who is consistently starting for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta hails Cristhian Mosquera’s ‘incredible’ performance

Arteta has admitted that he was so impressed by Mosquera’s ‘incredible’ performance in the win over Inter.

Speaking to the media after the match, Arteta said: “Mosquera, he’s supposed to be another two weeks before coming back.

“But the medical staff and the sports scientists have done incredibly well with him to work every single hour to give him the chance to play.

“Today he had to play, and against the strikers, I think he’s done an incredible job as well.”
