Arsenal ace who pocketed Jadon Sancho could be the mystery player in Eberechi Eze swap deal

Arsenal are really keen to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer.

The England international is a magical player. His ability to breeze past opponents is a joy to watch, and he has proven that he can create and score goals as well.

Eze would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal this summer, and reports have claimed that a swap deal could be in the works.

The Arsenal player who could go in the opposite direction has not been named, but we think it could be a highly-rated academy youngster.

Arsenal could use Josh Nichols in a swap deal to sign Eberechi Eze

Josh Nichols has been a part of Arsenal’s youth setup since he was nine.

The Englishman, now 18, took part in Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States last year and impressed many fans with his performances.

Nichols was brilliant against Jadon Sancho in a friendly against Manchester United. Many fans even joked that the youngster had the latter ‘in his pocket’ after the game — he was that good!

The Sun now claim that a ‘promising’ Arsenal defender who has played a handful of games with the senior side could be used in the deal to sign Eberechi Eze.

We think Nichols is the mystery player suggested in the report, and with Crystal Palace looking for a backup right-back, this move makes a lot of sense.

Nichols featured in pre-season last year, and he then made his senior competitive debut in the EFL Cup game against Bolton Wanderers as well.

The 18-year-old is a fine talent, but if Arsenal can use him to land Eze, it would be a move that makes sense for all parties involved.

Josh Nichols is brilliant but he will not get opportunities at Arsenal

Nichols is a very good player to watch.

The right-back, as he showed against Sancho, is fantastic in one-v-one situations, and he is really good going forward as well.

Still only 18, Nichols has a lot of time to develop and become a star at senior level, but the chances of that happening at Arsenal are extremely slim.

That’s because Jurrien Timber and Ben White are already available to Mikel Arteta, and they are still only 24 and 27 years of age respectively.

To add to that, Arsenal are trying to sign Cristhian Mosquera, and the Spaniard is capable of playing at right-back as well.

It would be a shame to lose Nichols to another club, but the teenager heading to Crystal Palace and Eze moving in the opposite direction works out for everyone involved.
