Viktor Gyokeres will help raise Martin Odegaard’s goal contributions
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres after weeks of negotiations with current club Sporting Lisbon.
Gyokeres is unlikely to be ready for the Asia tour but could join up with his new teammates once the deal has officially been completed.
Odegaard struggled last season and was unable to find the form that Arsenal fans have come to expect from their skipper when at his best.

However, an ankle injury early in the season played a part in his poor form but also the fact that the Gunners did not have a recognised striker ahead of him.
The Norwegian’s game is all about finding passes to runners beyond him and that was severely lacking in Arteta’s side last season.
Gyokeres loves to hang on the shoulder of the last defender and make penetrative runs in behind the defence – something that Odegaard will thrive from.

Odegaard thrives alongside Erling Haaland when playing for Norway and is proof that a direct, powerful striker is the perfect foil for the Gunners’ captain.
Haaland is a similar player to Gyokeres and his movement stretches defences, which allows Odegaard more space to operate in front of the back four.
For his national side, Odegaard has already picked up 16 assists in 65 matches for Norway and Haaland is a big factor behind those numbers.
