Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad could experience a lot of change over the coming years because of Maurizio Micheli’s proposed arrival.
Andrea Berta is working to bring Micheli to Arsenal to bolster his recruitment team.
The renowned Italian scout has built up a rather remarkable CV at Napoli, unearthing a collection of players who have gone on to become world-beaters and club legends.
Marek Hamsik said he owes a lot to Micheli, who brought the midfielder from Slovakia to Italy and then onto Napoli, where he holds the record for most appearances.
It’s clear to see why Micheli’s expected arrival at Arsenal is exciting fans, and his presence will also thrill Arteta.

Maurizio Micheli could deliver Mikel Arteta some unearthed gems at Arsenal
Arsenal’s 2025 summer transfer window was impeccable, seeing Berta earn high praise from fans for his work to bolster Arteta’s squad.
The window was undoubtedly the strongest Arteta has had during his time as Arsenal manager, but one thing is still missing, and Micheli could deliver that.
During his time at the helm at the Emirates, Arteta has yet to be handed a relatively unknown talent to unearth.
Micheli is an expert at handing managers and top clubs talents who need exposure, his most notable capture being Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
It was only in 2022 that Napoli signed Kvaratskhelia from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi for £9m, leaving many fans wondering what Micheli was on to.

Rapidly, it became apparent that the Italian giants had found treasure, as after trading the Georgian top flight for the Serie A, the winger won the league and contributed to 31 goals in his debut campaign.
Three years down the line, and the unknown Georgian discovered by Micheli is also a Champions League winner, and now, he could deliver Arteta his own untouched jewel.
It’s been a long while since Arsenal have placed trust in a lesser-known player, the last instance being in 2019 when Edu Gaspar was behind bringing Gabriel Martinelli to North London.
Martinelli was signed as an 18-year-old from Brazilian club Ituano, and the results were incredible.
Now, the feat is more likely to be repeated than ever thanks to Micheli, who could give Arteta the chance to develop a signing who isn’t yet making the headlines.
Edu Gaspar’s Gabriel Martinelli transfer repeat failed
After Martinelli’s market value rocketed following his rise at Arsenal, it was no surprise to see Edu take another risk in the Brazilian market.
Unfortunately, the ex-sporting director’s second attempt didn’t go to plan, as the signing of Marquinhos from Sao Paulo didn’t work out.

After making just six appearances for Arsenal’s first team, Marquinhos was sold to Cruzeiro for just £2.5m, bringing his uneventful time in N5 to a close.
Edu’s second shot at delivering an unearthed gem was a failure, but with Micheli set to soon arrive, the Gunners can expect to see more transfers of that nature.
Could Arteta develop an unknown talent into a world-beater? Micheli might just have the tools to give the boss the rare opportunity to do so.
