Arsenal have been so good recently that traces of Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry are evident.

Henry shows his appreciation for Bergkamp frequently, and it’s no surprise given just how magnificent the Dutchman was in his playing days.

The same can, of course, be said about Arsenal’s record goalscorer, as the Frenchman continues to inspire the next generation.

When it comes to Arsenal’s history, few come close to Henry and Bergkamp in terms of individual mastery and thrill-inducing play, but two current Gunners are rolling back the years.

Martin Zubimendi and Gabriel Martinelli are showing Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp traits

Viktor Gyokeres has been compared to Henry, not just for wearing the number 14, and Eberechi Eze’s move was likened to Bergkamp’s.

It would be understandable to assume that the two current players are those currently showcasing some Henry and Bergkamp magic, but it’s actually two different stars.

Gabriel Martinelli’s goal against Atletico Madrid was a movement Arsenal fans saw time after time from Henry, as the Brazilian opened his body up and tucked the ball into the opposite side of the net.

The move was the Frenchman’s trademark and helped him score so many goals in red and white, with Martinelli reviving the Arsenal legend’s presence on the pitch in N5 on Tuesday night.

As was so often the case, when Henry was thriving, Bergkamp was too, and in this case, it was Martin Zubimendi who acted as the Dutchman.

Zubimendi had Arsenal fans off their seats against Atletico, playing a remarkable pass over to Gyokeres from the edge of the box.

The way the Spaniard kept the ball under control whilst surrounded by defenders, on the turn and under pressure, was like something many Gooners have only seen from Bergkamp.

It wasn’t quite Bergkamp’s superb spinning goal against Newcastle United, but the inspiration was there, with fans treated to some real quality on matchday three of the Champions League campaign.

How many goals did Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp actually combine for at Arsenal?

Henry and Bergkamp had one of the greatest partnerships the Premier League, and certainly Arsenal, has ever seen.

That being said, the Dutchman wasn’t actually Henry’s favourite teammate in terms of combining for goal contributions.

Bergkamp is fifth in the list of players who share the most joint-goal participations with Henry, with the figure being 20.

A breakdown of the total reveals that Henry assisted Bergkamp eight times, and Bergkamp returned the favour 12 times.

Two Highbury legends are still the benchmark for Arsenal players today, with glimpses of such quality on show in Mikel Arteta’s current squad.
