Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has a new counterpart down the road at Tottenham – Thomas Frank.
Spurs showed Ange Postecoglou the door 16 days after he ended their trophy drought, and they’ve now spent around £10 million to land the Dane from Brentford.
Arsenal fans are sad to see Frank join Tottenham, as many Gooners really liked the 51-year-old tactician for the way he has spoken about Arteta and his side over the years.
Now, Frank will be defending the enemy, and Arsenal manager Arteta has the chance to give him a big reality check very early on in his Spurs career.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could embarrass Thomas Frank at Tottenham
Tottenham may have won the Europa League last season, but they finished 17th in the Premier League table.
That should tell you the magnitude of the job Thomas Frank has found himself in, and he could get exposed very soon.
Spurs face Arsenal in Hong Kong in what will be the first-ever North London Derby outside England in history. On paper, it is just a pre-season friendly, but there are no friendly derbies.
That will be Frank’s first big test as Tottenham’s manager, and a win in that fixture will instantly make him a hero among Spurs fans.
However, on the flip side, if Mikel Arteta and Arsenal manage to beat him convincingly, Frank will be embarrassed and his Tottenham career will get off to a terrible start.
With Martin Zubimendi and hopefully a new striker coming in by then, Arsenal will be in a great position to inflict some serious pain on Spurs in Hong Kong.
A 5-0 win for the Gunners in Frank’s first North London Derby as the Tottenham boss would be a great sight.

Tottenham’s recent record against Arsenal is laughable
Arsenal are the superior side in North London.
Yes, Tottenham have had their moments, but history will tell you that the Gunners are better than them. Recent results back that claim as well.
| Arsenal wins | Draws | Tottenham wins | |
| Last 10 North London Derbies | 7 | 1 | 2 |
Arsenal have lost just two of their last 10 games against Tottenham, the last of which came all the way back in May 2022 – over three years ago.
Arteta’s men have won five of their last six North London Derbies as well, and we hope the Gunners can continue the same record against Frank’s Spurs.
