Arsenal must bite at £77m Rodrygo transfer bargain after what Premier League rivals just did

A transfer story breaking in the Premier League might make Arsenal think about their approach for Rodrygo.

The Brazilian is on the Gunners’ radar as his future at Real Madrid appears to be uncertain.

Rodrygo has been played out of position at the Club World Cup by his new manager, Xabi Alonso, which will surely dishearten the winger, who is desperate to be utilised on his favoured left side.

Added to that, Alonso then didn’t play Rodrygo in Madrid’s second game at the tournament, causing rumours of a possible transfer to Arsenal to grow.

Arsenal learn that Rodrygo’s asking price is a bargain

Rodrygo’s family aren’t impressed with Real Madrid’s treatment of the player, who, despite being a significant contributor to the goals, is never Los Blancos’ protagonist.

Arsenal are hot on Rodrygo’s trail, but no formal approach has been made for the player, which might change after a transfer story that is unfolding elsewhere.

David Ornstein took to X to report that Newcastle United had a £45m offer rejected for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga.

Forest aren’t willing to entertain any offers for the Sweden international, with £45m not being anywhere near enough to lure the 23-year-old away from the City Ground.

Such must spur Arsenal on to make a move for Rodrygo, whose price tag looks like a bargain compared to the going price for wingers in the Premier League.

Elanga is a top player, but he’s not the same calibre as Rodrygo, who, at only one year older than the Forest ace, has 119 goal contributions in 268 appearances for Real Madrid.

Spanish media outlet Cadena SER reports that Arsenal have been quoted a £77m asking price to sign Rodrygo, which, when compared to Elanga’s value, is quite staggering.

The Swede has 15 senior goals in 137 career appearances to his name, making the £32m difference in value difficult to comprehend.

Arsenal must act fast and wrap up a deal for the Brazil international, who has a bargain price hanging over his head there to be exploited.

Rodrygo presents the perfect transfer opportunity

For the player that he is, Rodrygo’s wage demands are affordable to Arsenal in comparison to the fees that other players at top-six clubs demand.

The winger presents the perfect market opportunity, with a bargain asking price and a salary expectation that wouldn’t shatter Arsenal’s wage structure.

All that’s left to do is for Berta to make his move, which will hopefully, after seeing the going rate for Premier League wingers, inspire the Italian to act on his interest in Rodrygo.

If a right-footed left-winger is what Arsenal need, then Rodrygo certainly fits the bill, with all eyes on how the Gunners opt to approach the target.
