Arsenal were dominated by £2m Fulham star, Mikel Arteta should sign him immediately

As they were against Manchester United, Arsenal were brilliant from set-pieces in their 1-1 draw with Fulham, even if their finishing let them down.

William Saliba was alive from an Arsenal corner to divert Kai Havertz’s header in the back of the Fulham net, bringing his side level.

Thomas Partey then had a glaring chance to put Arsenal 2-1 up – the biggest chance of the whole game.

Partey missed and Arsenal drew 1-1 – the Gunners were brilliant from dead-ball scenarios, but they struggled to create much else from open play, as the xG figures show.

Of course, Arsenal’s creators in chief are usually Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, two talents who were stifled by one player on Fulham’s left-hand side.

Antonee Robinson is the perfect Mikel Arteta signing

Antonee Robinbson looked like he relished the chance to play against Saka, he was up tight to him when needed and also knew when to commit a foul.

Robinson, a United States international, has slowly been improving for Fulham in recent seasons, a left-back who’s often linked with Liverpool.

Back in 2020, Fulham paid £2m to sign Robinson from Wigan Athletic, a deal that now appears to be an absolute bargain given the progress he’s made.

And with the greatest respect to Fulham, at 27-years- old, Robinson looks ready for the next big move of his career.

Whether it’s defending one-versus-one or overlapping his winger, Robinson can do it all.

In fact, given his ability on the ball, the Everton academy product could easily step into midfield in an inverted role too, explaining his potential appeal to Arteta.

Arsenal can take advantage of their Fulham connection

Right now, Arsenal are seriously lacking a reliable and ever-present option at left-back, something Robinson has consistently been for Fulham.

Often this season, the full-back has even been playing behind Reiss Nelson, meaning it would be even easier for Arsenal’s scouting team to envision the Fulham man at the Emirates Stadium.

Perhaps some Arsenal fans would like the club to dream bigger, but it’s hard to argue that Robinson wouldn’t be a huge upgrade on the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Zinchenko is free to leave in January, and perhaps Arsenal could take advantage of their seemingly good relationship with Fulham, who they’ve sold several players to.

Arteta has always been willing to recruit from Premier League sides in the past, and it’s time for him to work his magic once again.
