Arsenal are still keen on adding one more attacker to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer, despite already completing moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke.
Gyokeres signed from Sporting CP for £63 million to compete with Kai Havertz up front, while Noni Madueke has been brought in from Chelsea to provide cover for Bukayo Saka.
However, Arteta and Andrea Berta still feel that a player who can operate on the left-hand side of the Gunners’ frontline is an addition they must make before the window slams shut.
Eberechi Eze appears to be Arsenal’s primary target, although the North Londoners should still be exploring other options on the market.

Arsenal should sign Ademola Lookman after he handed in a transfer request
While Eze is a talented player, he isn’t an out-and-out winger.
Arsenal are crying out for a natural wide player who can hug the touchline and elevate the level of the left-hand side of their attack, and the Crystal Palace man doesn’t fit this profile.
Rodrygo would have been the perfect addition, but the Brazilian’s financial demands have seemingly made him inaccessible to the Gunners.
Instead, Berta should look to sign Ademola Lookman, who has now prompted potential suitors to push to secure his signature.
The Nigerian has submitted a transfer request to Atalanta, in which he’s outlined his desire to leave the Bergamo club and for them to facilitate the move.
Arsenal have been linked with Lookman this summer, although reports on this front have quietened down since the Eze links emerged.
Now that the former Fulham man is willing to do everything in his power to seal an exit from Atalanta, his price may drop significantly, and he could become a market opportunity the Gunners simply cannot turn down.
Netting more than 15 goals in each of his three seasons in Italy, Lookman is an outstanding talent who is ready to make an impact back in the country where he developed.
Nominated for the Ballon d’Or in 2024, the 27-year-old would arrive in N5 with an impressive pedigree.

Ademola Lookman would be a better investment for Arsenal than Eberechi Eze
Eze would certainly excite Arsenal fans and would be able to resonate with them, having grown up supporting the North London club.
That said, his profile simply won’t suit the left-wing role in Arteta’s team.
Lookman, on the other hand, has been a winger for his entire career, and thrives in wide areas.

| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.36 | 0.41 |

Excellent at carrying the ball into the penalty area and getting on the end of moves inside the box, he boasts all the attributes Arteta demands from his wide forwards.
The same age as Eze, likely cheaper after handing in a transfer request, and more suited to the imminent vacancy in the Gunners squad, it makes a lot more sense for Arsenal to sign Lookman.
If Berta can negotiate a reasonable fee with Atalanta, then at the very least it’s an option that he must seriously consider.
