Arsenal are set to take on Sevilla in a Champions League group stage clash on Tuesday evening.
Mikel Arteta will want to see a better showing from his Arsenal side against Sevilla tomorrow than he saw from them last time out in the Champions League.
In the Gunners’ most recent Champions League outing they slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Lens. They now need to beat Sevilla to ensure that they retain a strong position in the Group B standings.
Arteta is likely to field a strong starting XI. However, there will probably be some changes from the team that struggled against Chelsea on Saturday.
Predicted Arsenal starting XI
David Raya
Despite struggling against Chelsea, Arteta will stick with David Raya. He won’t want the goalkeeper to lose confidence as a result of being dropped. With the Gunners set to spend £27 million making his loan move from Brentford permanent, the manager needs the 28-year-old to find some form.
In any case, having just had a baby, Aaron Ramsdale may well be short on preparation for this match.
Ben White
If Ben White is fit, he plays. Arsenal’s Mr. Consistent will be required against the Spanish side.
William Saliba
William Saliba was made for the big occasions. He won’t want to miss out on this Champions League fixture.
Gabriel Magalhaes
Gabriel Magalhaes has formed a reliable partnership with Saliba which Arteta will put his faith in again on Tuesday.
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Oleksandr Zinchenko struggled against Chelsea, whilst Takehiro Tomiyasu has impressed at left-back this season. He deserves a start in the position.
Declan Rice
With Thomas Partey probably unfit to start, Declan Rice should be deployed in his best position, just ahead of the Arsenal defence.
Martin Odegaard
Having produced an uncharacteristically poor performance against Chelsea, the Arsenal club captain will be keen to bounce back in Spain.
Kai Havertz
After an impressive cameo against his former club, Kai Havertz deserves a start this time around. The £65 million summer arrival is slowly but surely growing into his new role for the Gunners.
Bukayo Saka
Like White, if Bukayo Saka is fit, he plays.
Leandro Trossard
It has been suggested that Leandro Trossard can’t be happy with the amount of game time he is getting for Arsenal. The £27 million former Brighton man certainly deserves a start after his contribution at Stamford Bridge.
Given he has only recently returned from injury, there is no need to risk Gabriel Martinelli either.
Eddie Nketiah
It is hard to predict whether Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah will get the nod. Whoever Arteta tasks with leading the line, they will be desperate for a goal, as neither of the strikers have been in prolific form so far this season.
