Eberechi Eze must be even more desperate to join Arsenal now after new detail emerges

It is no secret that Arsenal would like to sign Eberechi Eze this summer.

The Gunners have had a very impressive transfer window already, with Andrea Berta securing the services of six new players.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres have all arrived and are ready to go.

The next name on Arsenal’s wish list is Eze, and we have a feeling that he will be hoping to see the Gunners trigger his release clause.

Eberechi Eze will personally benefit if Arsenal trigger his release clause

Eberechi Eze would be an excellent signing for Arsenal.

The Crystal Palace star is capable of producing magical moments on the pitch, which is exactly what the Gunners need against stubborn low blocks.

Martin Odegaard can unlock any defence on his day, but he struggled against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong on Thursday.

Arsenal need a different profile in the number 10 role, and Eze would be perfect.

Reports have claimed that he would be open to a move to the Emirates, and we think he would love it even more if the Gunners triggered his release clause.

That’s because Eze is set to receive a small part of that £68 million clause if it is met, claims Ben Jacobs.

The journalist said: “The clause itself is almost £68 million, and it is really complicated because you have to go through the front door.

“That might sound obvious, but after the Morgan Gibbs-White saga, that’s the point here: you only learn about the clause if you engage directly with Crystal Palace.

“This clause is framed to benefit Crystal Palace, framed to benefit Eberechi Eze’s former clubs and framed to benefit Eberechi Eze because the player actually gets a commission too, a cut, if the clause is triggered.”

Eberechi Eze’s wish is unlikely to be fulfilled

Crystal Palace have been really smart with the terms of the release clause.

Not only have they incentivised the player and set a big overall fee, but they have also included a deadline.

That, unfortunately for Eze, expires at 11:59 pm on Friday (August 1, 2025).

Arsenal are definitely interested in Eze, and they could still end up signing him this summer. But, it is extremely unlikely that they will do it in the coming hours.

That means Eze’s commission is gone, which is a shame for him, but we think he will still be pleased if he gets his desired move to Arsenal before the window shuts.
