Raheem Sterling has been a huge disappointment since signing on loan from Chelsea in the summer window.

It was seen as a clever and important signing by Mikel Arteta, he had worked with Sterling in the past at Man City and he was a quality option to provide cover for the likes of Bukayo Saka.

However, Sterling has suffered from a crisis in confidence and Arsenal fans were furious with Sterling’s performance against Leicester where nothing went right for the England international.

Sterling has been helping Ethan Nwaneri off the pitch and has earned praise for his attitude and commitment around the club from the Gunners coaching staff. It is now time that the club helped the 30-year-old to rediscover his best form.

Arsenal need to support Raheem Sterling in finding his title-winning form

Sterling has proven that he can cope with the pressures of a Premier League title race. He won four league titles during his spell at Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and was a key figure in those trophy wins.

The England winger scored 13 goals and provided five assists in City’s title-winning season in 2021-22 and in the 2019-20 season, he amassed 20 league goals.

In stark contrast, Sterling has provided just one assist in the league this season for the Gunners and Arsenal are desperate for Sterling take responsibility on the pitch.

However, the club also need to play their part in helping him overcome this poor run of form, he needs to be given the confidence and backing that he will have a run of games in the side and the opportunity to improve.

The Arsenal staff should allow Sterling the freedom to play with a smile on his face and attack full backs like he used to in his prime for City and England. If the Gunners can unlock that version of Sterling, they may well find themselves back in the hunt for silverware.

Arsenal yet to make decision on Sterling’s future

The 30-year-old’s loan at Arsenal runs out at the end of the season and Arteta is yet to decide on Sterling’s future.

Arsenal are considering replacements for Sterling and there would be serious question marks over the permanent acquisition of the England winger should his performances fail to improve.

Whilst the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli remain out injured, Sterling has the chance to prove his worth to this Arsenal side and come up with a moment to reignite his career.

One moment of brilliance is all that it could take to turn around his fortunes at the Emirates Stadium and what better time to do it than in front of his home crowd against London rivals West Ham in the next match.
