How Arsenal can stop former transfer target from ending their Premier League dream

Arsenal go into the game against Manchester City knowing that three points are once again vital in their quest for a Premier League title.

Arsenal drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture as Leandro Trossard was controversially sent off by referee Michael Oliver for delaying the restart, John Stones equalised in the last minute for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The fall out from that game was intense and the rivalry has once again been stoked up as Arsenal fans have hung up a message to Erling Haaland ahead of the game.

Arteta chose to ignore Haaland’s comment of ‘stay humble’ after the previous encounter and after a rocky few months, the defending champions are just showing signs of coming back into form.

Arsenal know that three points are essential in order to catch Liverpool at the top of the Premier League and they will need to keep an eye on a former transfer target if they are to achieve that.

Arsenal need to be aware of Omar Marmoush threat

Arsenal were interested in signing Omar Marmoush at the start of the transfer window before the Egyptian completed a move to Manchester City.

Arsenal fans were excited at the prospect of signing Marmoush but now will be fearful that the former target could scupper the Gunners hopes of ending their wait for a league title.

Marmoush made his debut for City against Chelsea recently and looked energetic and lively coming off of the left hand flank.

The forward has a goal disallowed for offside and was a constant threat to the Chelsea back line, Jurrien Timber will need to be on his game in order to keep the Egyptian at bay.

Arsenal need to win midfield battle in order to beat Manchester City

Midfield could hold the key to victory in the game at the Emirates Stadium and Paul Merson has called for Jorginho to be dropped from the Arsenal side.

City have struggled in the centre of the park since Rodri’s injury but still possess great quality in the likes of De Bruyne, Foden and Bernardo Silva.

Arsenal will need to ensure that Thomas Partey and Declan Rice can nullify that threat before allowing the likes of captain Odegaard to penetrate holes in the City backline.

If Arsenal can win that midfield battle, it will go a long way to deciding the outcome of the game. Let the visitors have too much space and the likes of Marmoush will punish, get control and it could be the vital element that guides Arteta’s side to victory.
