Arsenal had a memorable night at San Siro, beating Inter Milan 3-1 to confirm automatic qualification to the round of 16.

To Mikel Arteta’s delight, Arsenal won’t have to play additional minutes to determine their status in the Champions League knockouts.

It’s all thanks to the Gunners’ terrific performance at San Siro, ending Arsenal’s wait for a goal and a win on Italian soil in Europe’s top competition.

Gabriel Jesus stole the show against Inter, and he wasn’t the only one, as Bukayo Saka left the San Siro spellbound, but not everyone was as convincing.

Jurrien Timber’s performance against Inter Milan was confusing

The verdict is still out on Eberechi Eze’s display against Inter, as the Englishman was given a rare start.

Some think Eze could’ve offered more, some think he did just enough, which is a similar situation to Jurrien Timber.

To the delight of fans, Timber returned to right-back after his questionable performance on the left against Nottingham Forest.

That being said, it wasn’t the version of the Dutchman that we’ve grown to know and love, as the full-back did some things well, and others, not so much.

It was thanks to Timber that Arsenal scored their opening goal, as the 24-year-old’s attempt on goal fell into Jesus’ path.

Going forward in general, Timber was impactful, contributing by creating three chances for his teammates, but at the other end, he also handed Inter a chance.

The 2023 signing was a disaster defensively, which the eye test didn’t really show, but the numbers did.

In the seven duels the Dutch international contested, he came out on top just once, which is critically below his usual level.

It’s therefore difficult to truly determine whether Timber was impressive or challenged against Inter, but the main thing is, Arsenal got the win.

Timber thought his Arsenal teammate was a beast against Inter Milan

Despite conceding for only the second time in the Champions League this season, Arsenal’s defence stood strong against Inter’s impressive attacking options.

It was great to see, particularly as summer signing Cristhian Mosquera returned to the starting XI, replacing Gabriel Magalhaes to partner William Saliba.

On Instagram after the win, Mosquera posted a series of images to mark his return from injury, which Timber commented on.

“Beast,” Timber said, acknowledging his teammate’s assured performance in the back four.

Many will agree with the full-back’s assessment of Mosquera’s display, as the Spaniard returned as if he’d never left, coming up against some of Europe’s best forwards.
