Arsenal icon Theo Walcott just needed encouragement from John Terry to show some belief in the title race.
The pundits say they saw the Premier League title switch on when Manchester City beat Liverpool at Anfield, but in reality, nothing changed.
Arsenal started matchweek 25 six points clear and ended it six points clear, so the challenge remains very much the same for Mikel Arteta.
Gary Lineker says Arsenal are the favourites to win the title even after City’s statement win, but some with ties to the Gunners aren’t as confident.

John Terry stepped in when Theo Walcott shared his Arsenal Premier League title prediction
Theo Walcott never won the league at Arsenal, but he ironically played a big part in the Gunners’ downfall in the 2022/23 season.
Walcott scored in Arsenal’s horrendous 3-3 draw with Southampton, which was one of a series of underwhelming results that ultimately cost Arteta’s side the title.
This year, things are different, but the Gunners still aren’t protected from Man City, and it’s playing on Walcott’s mind enough to share his doubts about whether Arsenal will win the league.
On John Terry’s TikTok channel, the Chelsea legend asked Walcott who will win the league, the Arsenal icon hesitated, and then explained why.
“It’s been a bit of doubt recently, I do feel it’s gonna go all the way,” Walcott said.
“This is the issue right now, all the Arsenal fans, me being included, just got that nagging feeling that might happen and just miss out at the last second again to Man City. That’s my worry, just like a flip of a coin, Arsenal or City for me, I can’t pick them.”
Walcott’s lack of confidence then prompted Terry, of all people, to remind the Englishman that Arsenal are in a very good position.
“To be fair though, the last couple of weeks you’ve have a couple of dodgy results but I think throughout the season, that happens to all teams, you go through it, but I think Arsenal look by far the best this year.”
After Terry’s words of wisdom, Walcott changed his mind.
“They look the best team, yes, they do, and they’ve only lost three games this year so, you lose that many games, and it’s February…Arsenal, Arsenal this year, go on!”
Terry made Walcott look very silly
Why it took a Chelsea icon like Terry, who enjoys taking jabs at Arsenal, to convince Walcott that the Gunners are title favourites is beyond me.
What Arsenal need more than most is the belief to carry them over the line, as, to be clear, no team in the Premier League has come remotely close to matching Arsenal’s level this season.
🔮 How many points will Arsenal and Man City take from their next five Premier League games…
Walcott showed a level of hesitation that rivals would’ve loved, particularly Terry, who stepped in to give the club icon a pat on the back of encouragement.
My message to Walcott and other Arsenal figures with doubt: don’t show it!
There’s no reason not to trust THIS squad, sure, the ‘bottling’ ideology has followed Arteta around, but this season, there’s no sign of such.
Confidence and belief in the now rather than the past is what is needed, particularly at a time when so many are praying for Arsenal’s downfall.
