Man United should be stripped of six Premier League titles after what Paul Scholes said about Arsenal

Paul Scholes has made yet another controversial claim about Arsenal.

The Manchester United legend is emerging as a big voice in punditry, and he has been using his platform to make some controversial statements.

Not too long ago, Scholes claimed that Arsenal would be the worst team to win the Premier League if they managed to go all the way.

Now, the 51-year-old has said that the trophy shouldn’t be awarded to Arsenal even if they win the title fair and square. In that case, Manchester United should return six titles too.

If you could make one pundit stop talking about Arsenal, who would you choose and why?

Paul Scholes’ comments on Arsenal would be fair if Manchester United are stripped of six Premier League titles

Some of Paul Scholes’ comments about Arsenal have been really poor.

Calling the Gunners the worst team to win the league was silly on its own, but his latest comments make even less sense.

He said on his podcast: “Whoever wins the league, you say at the end of it that they deserved it.

“None of them have convinced me that they should be Premier League champions (this season). I don’t think they should give the trophy this year. No one deserves it, honestly. It’s not been great to watch.”

Of course, the Premier League are not going to listen to Scholes, but if they did, they may have to strip Manchester United of six of their titles as well.

Arsenal currently average a little over 2.2 points per game. That means they are on track to finish the season with 83.86 points. For argument’s sake, let’s call that 84.

If Scholes doesn’t want the Gunners to be given the title for amassing 84 points, every Premier League team over the years who have won the title with fewer points must be stripped of their titles.

Funnily enough, Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United won six league titles with fewer than 84 points – 1995/96 (82 points), 1996/97 (75 points), 1998/99 (79 points), 2000/01 (80 points), 2002/03 (83 points), 2010/11 (80 points).

Scholes, who has a lot to say now, was involved in every single one of the above title-winning teams.

Will he be open to returning his medals for, in his own words, not deserving them? We don’t think so!

Arsenal fans, what’s your message to Paul Scholes after he said this?

The best way for Arsenal players to respond to Paul Scholes and other pundits

Listening to comments from some pundits, like Scholes, makes it feel like most of them don’t want Arsenal to win the league.

As Emmanuel Petit and Martin Keown have rightly claimed recently, everything the Gunners do is met with a negative reaction from the same people.

Gary Neville recently made a comment about ‘outside noise’ affecting Arsenal players, but many fans have rightly said that he is the one who causes that noise.

Arsenal players should not worry about these pundits and what they say. They should put their heads down and focus on winning the next game – we’re sure Mikel Arteta will have made that clear to them.

The best response to all the critics would be lifting that Premier League title in May.
