Arsenal are braced to attack the transfer market as the summer window slams shut on Friday night.
Deadline Day is fast approaching giving Mikel Arteta and Edu extra incentive to consider what the squad requires for the first half of the season.
So far, the Gunners’ incoming business is represented by Riccardo Calafiori, David Raya and Mikel Merino, with fans hoping that a surprise forward can be delivered.
Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates, as expected before Deadline Day, with Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman said to be of interest.

Arsenal must look past Kingsley Coman concerns to sign the winger on Deadline Day
A report courtesy of the Daily Mail surfaced Arsenal’s interest in Coman, claiming that the Gunners are considering a late swoop for the 28-year-old.
The Frenchman is expected to leave Bayern this summer, however, Arsenal aren’t the only club interested, with the forward generating attention from Saudi Arabia.
For this reason, there is some doubt over whether the Premier League side will get the deal done, with Saudi clubs in a better position to cover Coman’s £300k-a-week wages.
Added to concerns over his salary, Arteta will be wary of the Champions League winner’s injury record, as the winger missed an alarming 125 days due to injury last season, via Transfermarkt.
Like any signing, there are points to be discussed to work out if a deal is worth pursuing, with Coman’s situation being one where the good outweighs the bad.
Mikel Arteta can solve key squad issue by signing Coman
One of the main concerns at Arsenal leading up to Deadline Day is the lack of depth in attack.
While Arsenal Insider sources have said that a striker won’t be signed, capturing a winger is arguably more important for where Arteta’s squad are currently at.
Aside from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal’s options are incredibly thin, with there certainly no competition for the duo.
It’s become an even greater concern as Martinelli’s form has been way below par, which is something that Coman in particular could assist with fixing.
When revising the player’s statistics on FBref, the Arsenal target is listed as a winger who is most statistically comparable to Martinelli.
It’s absolutely critical that Arteta fights to sign a winger this summer, as competition and a higher level of performance are required in the squad, particularly if the manager wants to win the Premier League title.
Signing Coman would only apply the pressure to Martinelli, which would only benefit Arsenal’s attack as a whole, with the season long and full of opportunities for players to suffer injury.
Only time will tell if Edu and Arteta press hard to sign the Frenchman, who would undoubtedly bolster the Gunners’ front line.
