Mikel Arteta might just have rediscovered an exciting option after what happened in Arsenal training earlier this week.
The Gunners have enjoyed an outstanding start to the new season, winning 14 of their opening 16 matches across all competitions.
This return sees them riding high at the top of the Premier League table, six points clear of second-placed Manchester City, while Arteta’s team are also behind only Bayern Munich in the Champions League table.
Arsenal are now clear favourites to win the league, but they can certainly still go up a level offensively, and this could be achieved with more attacking talent in their ranks.

Gabriel Jesus has returned to full Arsenal training
Gabriel Jesus tore his ACL in January in an FA Cup match against Manchester United.
A devastating blow for an injury-prone player who had just been returning to form, the Brazilian has been in rehabilitation over the last ten months.
However, Jesus returned to full training this week, joining his teammates at London Colney on Thursday and Friday. While he’s likely still several weeks from making an appearance on the pitch, his presence would’ve been a breath of fresh air for the Arsenal squad.
Speaking about Jesus’ return in his press conference on Friday, Arteta claimed that the 28-year-old is ‘full of energy’.
“It’s about making the steps day by day in a different surrounding,” the manager said.
“He’s [Jesus] been doing everything on his own; now he’s got very competitive players around him, and let’s see how he copes with that. But he’s full of energy, I love the reaction of all his teammates when he first joined us and it’s great to have him back.”
Given how long it took Jurrien Timber to play for Arsenal again after his ACL injury, even after returning to training, it’s fair to assume that Jesus could still be some way off.
It’s likely that he’ll be granted a run-out in a youth match before he’s trusted to play in a competitive, senior game.

Gabriel Jesus can still contribute to Arsenal’s season
As shown in the training footage, Jesus looked sharp.
Perfectly dispatching the effort that he takes right at the beginning of the video Arsenal shared, the striker showcased the exciting talent that he does possess.
If he can get back into shape and his knee can withstand pressure, then his re-emergence could make him like a new signing.
| Gabriel Jesus’ Premier League Statistics 2022/23 | |
| Appearances | 26 |
| Goals | 11 |
| Assists | 6 |
| Shots per 90 | 3.31 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.61 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 1.35 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.17 |
Assuming he can feature from around the beginning of December, there’s still a reasonable chance that he can contribute to Arsenal’s season.
While the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz will be ahead of him in the pecking order, Jesus is as good if not better than both of these players when he’s at his best.
It remains to be seen whether his best is still within him, but the form he demonstrated in the 2022/23 campaign was scintillating, and that player could certainly help Arsenal achieve their goals this term.
