Mikel Arteta should call Stan Kroenke and make one thing clear after Arsenal’s defeat to PSG, it’s time

Arsenal have been knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners and their fans had been dreaming of European glory this season, and they definitely had the opportunities to reach the final.

Arsenal were the better team against PSG over the two legs, but the difference between the sides was the finishing.

Three of the five goals PSG scored against Mikel Arteta’s side had an xG below 0.1.

That is the sort of clinical finishing that wins you big games, and Luis Enrique was fortunate to have that at his disposal on Wednesday night.

Arsenal, on the other hand, haven’t had that for a while now, and that is really frustrating – not just for us fans but also for Arteta and the team.

Mikel Arteta should make one big demand to Stan Kroenke after Arsenal’s loss to PSG

Arsenal owners Stan and Josh Kroenke and the board have massively let Arteta down this season.

The Gunners have had so many injuries this term, and it became very clear in January that they were short of options.

Arteta made a public plea for new signings in the winter window, but the Kroenkes and the board failed to deliver. That has cost the club this season.

‘Enough is enough’ – that’s what Arteta should be telling the Kroenkes.

The Arsenal manager should pick up his phone, call the owners and give them an ultimatum – ‘Back me in the summer transfer window or I’m leaving!’

To go to the next level after multiple years of progression, Arsenal need a world-class striker, a winger and a midfielder in the upcoming window.

Andrea Berta and the board need to go out there and get the best available options. If they don’t, there is no hope, and we don’t see any reason why Arteta, who is one of the best in the business, would be happy to stick around.

Arsenal fans slam the board for not backing Mikel Arteta

Arsenal fans were worried that Arteta would leave after the club’s decision-makers failed to sign anyone in the January transfer window.

That fear has once again crept up, and following the defeat to PSG, Gooners have taken to social media to slam the board.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “‘Arteta out’ shouts after losing a Champions League semi-final is utter madness. We’d be fighting for 8th without him. He’s been overachieving with what he’s been given. We would be lucky if he signed an extension at this point, given the board’s January stance.”

Another said: “I’m one of Arteta’s harshest critics, but my first thought after that performance isn’t to change the manager…The board have woefully failed him.”

“Proud of the team and Arteta to get us this far, but they were failed by the shambles of a board in January when they gave up on the season then,” said another.
