Mikel Arteta’s best starting XI if Arsenal complete dream transfer window with two deals

Arsenal are preparing for a new Premier League season, with hopes that Mikel Arteta can finally end that long wait for a title.

The Gunners have come close to beating their rivals Manchester City over the last two campaigns but fell short at the final few hurdles.

Arteta will be aiming to go one further, adding another bit of silverware to the Arsenal trophy cabinet along the way.

Some work has been put in over the summer to change the squad, with Emile Smith Rowe leaving to join Fulham, while Riccardo Calafiori moved to Arsenal from Bologna.

The work may not be done there though as Edu Gaspar and his recruitment team work through the final weeks of the transfer window to secure the best deals for the Gunners.

Arsenal dream transfer window

Mikel Merino signs

Arteta has been looking at bolstering his midfield options throughout the summer window so far, with plenty of names linked.

However, one player who has been heavily linked with Arsenal is Mikel Merino, with the Real Sociedad star impressing in the past season.

While talks appear to be at a standstill, the Gunners could move swiftly to add the Spaniard to their squad in the weeks ahead.

Should that happen, it will add another partner for Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in the central areas.

Victor Osimhen deal

Arsenal have been in the market for a striker throughout the summer as they look at potential options to bolster the strikeforce.

Victor Osimhen is a forward who has been linked with Arsenal this window, with an exit from Napoli on the cards.

If the Gunners do make a move for the Nigerian international, it could add that cutting edge they miss in the box for those close encounter games.

So if Arsenal finally add both of those targets, it will complete three huge deals in a summer where the aim has been on closing the gap to Manchester City.
