Myles Lewis-Skelly has committed his long-term future to Arsenal, signing a new five-year deal with the North London club.

The Hale End star has been with the Gunners since the age of eight and signed his first professional contract in 2023, at the age of 17.

The 18-year-old enjoyed his first team breakthrough last season, making 39 appearances across all competitions for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Impressing so much at club level, Lewis-Skelly made his England debut in March and was nominated for the Premier League’s young player of the year award.

What Ethan Nwaneri said about his relationship with Myles Lewis-Skelly

With just a year remaining on his current deal, Arsenal tied Lewis-Skelly down to a new long-term contract, moving quickly to deter potential suitors from swooping in.

The left-back is now contracted to the club until 2030, and will continue to develop in N5.

The starlet’s rise to the first team has coincided with Ethan Nwaneri’s own breakthrough, with the pair growing up together at Hale End.

Their friendship is well documented, and Nwaneri spoke publicly about how well they get on, and how important they are to each other.

“My relationship and friendship with Myles is so important,” he told The Athletic.

“We’re so similar but so opposite at the same time. We think the same way, but the way that we might portray it to other people, he might seem more open, and I might seem more closed off.

“Our friendship is special.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly can convince Ethan Nwaneri to stay at Arsenal

While Lewis-Skelly’s future is clear, Nwaneri’s is more uncertain.

The attacking midfielder is yet to put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the Emirates, and has just one year remaining.

Nwaneri is said to have doubts about his playing time at Arsenal, with the Gunners looking to add at least two new offensive players to Arteta’s squad this summer.

However, Lewis-Skelly will no doubt want one of his closest friends to remain in North London, and can leverage the fact that they have a ‘special’ relationship to convince him to stay.

They started their journey together and have been through all the various steps to making it in conjunction, and should now look to continue their journey together at the highest level.
