Never mind Eberechi Eze, Tottenham should be even more gutted about another Arsenal signing

Over the summer, Arsenal managed to gazump Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Eberechi Eze, but the Lilywhites should actually be more gutted about the signing of Noni Madueke.

That is because the England international was actually formerly on the books at Spurs before he opted to make the switch to the Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven.

Since returning from injury, the winger has managed to carry on from where he left off, netting goals against Club Brugge and Bayern Munich.

Change our mind – Noni Madueke was Arsenal’s best summer signing by an absolute mile… 👀

Many laughed at Arsenal’s signing of Madueke from Chelsea in a deal worth around £55 million, but the Blues will now be looking at the 23-year-old and wondering why they couldn’t get the best from him.

Away at Club Brugge, Mikel Arteta called Madueke’s performance ‘outstanding’, as he netted a brace to ensure the Gunners have won six of their six Champions League matches.

Eze humiliated Tottenham in the North London derby, but they should now be wondering how they managed to allow Madueke to slip through their fingers.

Tottenham will be gutted about losing Noni Madueke

Following his impressive brace against Club Brugge, Tottenham will surely be gutted that they managed to allow Noni Madueke to get away.

The Arsenal star spent four years playing for Spurs’ academy before he decided to leave in 2019 to join PSV.

Madueke was a real jewel of the North London club’s academy at the time, and it felt like a big blow to lose such a big talent.

After two years in the Netherlands, Madueke, aged just 17, broke his way into the first team and made real waves playing in the Eredivisie.

Spurs will now be really stinging to have seen him move to Chelsea and then to Arsenal, where he is now flying under Mikel Arteta.

There is now a case to be made that Madueke should be starting ahead of Bukayo Saka for the Gunners, given the quality of his recent performances.

Martin Keown wants Madueke and Saka to both start, but the winger’s latest display against Brugge has certainly given Arteta a much-welcomed selection dilemma.

Noni Madueke makes bold Premier League and Champions League claim

Madueke believes that his Arsenal team are capable of winning both the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Is Noni Madueke right? Can Arsenal complete a Premier League and Champions League double?

“We’re tight, that’s the main thing. We want each other to do well; we know there are loads of minutes for all of us. It’s about all of us as a collective; we know we all have a part to play. That’s the good thing about this team,” he told TNT Sports.

“We’re fighting on all fronts. I feel like we can win this competition and win the league, that has to be the aim. We’re in a good place at the moment.”

Right now, it’s hard to argue against that statement, with the Gunners leading the way in both competitions.
