It’s fair to say that Aaron Ramsdale had a quick fall from grace at Arsenal – Mikel Arteta seemingly decided that he needed to be replaced in order to progress.
Ramsdale enjoyed some excellent memories at Arsenal, a real fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium.
However, many felt as if Arteta eventually decided that Ramsdale didn’t have the ice cold mentality to take Arsenal to the top, a goalkeeper who occasionally made mistakes.
Speaking on Behind The Game back in 2023, Ramsdale famously admitted himself that he couldn’t concentrate for 90 minutes, comments that came just before he was replaced.
He said: “If you ask me to focus on a game of football for 90 minutes I’m finished. I can’t do it.
“So that’s why I get involved with the fans and I sing along with the songs. Someone’s giving me abuse, I’ll turn around and give them a bit back.”
What did Oleksandr Zinchenko say about Mikel Arteta’s tricks?
Perhaps not the wisest thing for Ramsdale to say in public, something Arteta may have not taken a liking to.
And on that subject, Oleksandr Zinchenko may be in hot water with the Arsenal manager as well right now.

Arsenal are willing to sell Zinchenko in January, and the defender has perhaps made his position even more precarious with some recent comments about Arteta.
Zinchenko admitted that Arteta played tricks with injured players, making them come on the team bus or having them walk into the dressing room to fool opposition managers.
It’s a bizarre thing for Zinchenko to admit, and like Ramsdale’s comments mentioned, something that should definitely stay behind closed doors.
Zinchenko could leave Arsenal in January
Zinchenko has simply done Arteta or Arsenal no favours by admitting that they are seeking to gain an advantage in such a way.
Although they may have had their doubts anyway, opposing sides will now be confident to ignore any hints from Arsenal training or travel photos.
It’s only a small margin, but when you’re competing for a league title, everything counts.
Of course, this incident is a shame given Zinchenko was excellent for Ukraine over the international break – a player who could still benefit Arsenal.
But it’s hard to imagine Arteta being happy with his comments, and perhaps an exit could now be even more likely as a result.
