Stan Kroenke’s transfer attitude at Arsenal might’ve changed forever because of Eberechi Eze

Arsenal had an incredible summer in the transfer window, but things haven’t always seemed so simple in that department.

It wasn’t long ago that Arsenal fans were unsatisfied with Stan Kroenke’s lack of spending in the transfer market.

Andrea Berta’s arrival as sporting director changed everything, as eight new players were recruited in the summer window, seeing Arsenal’s spending exceed the £250m mark.

Arsenal’s new signings have settled well, but when it comes to the actual deals, none were as significant as Eberechi Eze’s move.

Who was Arsenal’s best signing of the 2025 summer transfer window?

Eberechi Eze’s transfer to Arsenal might’ve changed Stan Kroenke’s attitude

Eze snubbed Tottenham to sign for Arsenal, which made his North London Derby hat-trick all the more enjoyable.

Beating Spurs to the Englishman’s signature was the headline-maker, but the significance of the deal went a lot deeper than that.

That’s because Arsenal went above and beyond to sign Eze, despite understanding that they perhaps didn’t need to.

Speaking on the ESPN FC podcast, journalist James Olley reflected on spending time with the Gunners during their pre-season tour, mentioning the mood around Eze’s move.

“They felt they’d really nailed the transfer market, and that was before they’d signed Eze. You know, they really felt they’d got everything that they wanted.”

Even before signing the then-Crystal Palace star, Mikel Arteta was happy with what had been done, but, somehow, the Kroenkes were convinced that spending an additional £64m on Eze was necessary.

Josh Kroenke’s stance on Arsenal’s spending

“Josh Kroenke in particular wants to see that return on investment, as do the fans, in terms of success on the pitch.”

Never before have Arsenal’s owners released significant funds to complete an unnecessary deal, but in the 2025 summer transfer window, that changed, and the results have been magnificent.

Kroenke is now realising the difference that spending beyond merely satisfaction can have on Arsenal, which could prompt the businessman to loosen the purse strings more often going forward.

Eze’s impact on the Arsenal squad is undeniable

For a signing that wasn’t expected or planned for, Eze has slotted in at Arsenal in a way that has shown how Arteta’s squad can continually be improved.

Having seen the level that Eze is operating at in the Arsenal squad, Kroenke might be open to more signings of his nature.
