Arsenal had one big ‘concern’ about signing Eberechi Eze, but Josh Kroenke has decided to ignore it

The hijacking of Eberechi Eze’s transfer is a huge sign of progress at Arsenal as the details around the deal are ironed out.

Tottenham thought they were signing Eze, until Arsenal took control of the deal. 

Eze wanted Arsenal from the start, and now, the player’s wish has been granted, with his medical set to take place on Friday. 

Andrea Berta deserves so much credit for reacting to Kai Havertz’s knee injury instantaneously, seeing a gap in the market to reopen talks with Eze. 

It’s not only Arsenal’s sporting director who is being applauded, as executive vice-chair Tim Lewis has been at the heart of negotiations, but ultimately, it was someone else who pulled the trigger.

Josh Kroenke played a key role in Eberechi Eze’s transfer to Arsenal

Trusted Arsenal transfer insider Hand of Arsenal took to X to share what’s been going on behind the scenes to successfully execute the hijack.

It’s understood that, while Lewis built a strong rapport with Steve Parish, it was Josh Kroenke who allowed the deal to happen. 

Kroenke was in the UK at the time of the hijack, which is said to have ‘helped massively’ in supporting Arteta and Berta to deliver an ‘undeniable pitch’.

The biggest and most crucial role Kroenke played, however, was refusing to entertain concern regarding Arsenal’s PSR situation.

Hand of Arsenal noted that Arsenal’s non-executive director ‘stood firmly with Arteta’, understanding that on this occasion, signalling a green light for Eze’s transfer was more important than worrying about finances.

Arsenal will still focus on getting some key sales over the line before the window closes to balance the books, but for now, all eyes are on the masterful capture of Eze. 

Huge change on the transfer front at Arsenal 

It wasn’t long ago that Arsenal fans orchestrated mass protests in an attempt to get Stan Kroenke to sell his share of the club. 

Now, things couldn’t be more different, as it’s been made clear that Arsenal’s owners are mirroring the hunger for success that those on the footballing side of things are. 

Kroenke isn’t known to be a lover of football; his purse strings have notoriously been tight over the years, but Josh’s increased role when working with Arteta has clearly changed things.

Finances come before everything; Kroenke is a very successful businessman after all, but it appears that the penny has dropped in that with success comes huge financial gain.

Committing financially to the footballing project will up Arsenal’s chances of claiming silverware, with finally, fans, coaching staff and the club’s hierarchy on the same page.
