The £15m Brentford talent who made Mikel Arteta ‘pray’ really should be Andrea Berta’s next Arsenal target

Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brentford must have given Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta a transfer idea.

The Gunners are no strangers to luring people from the Gtech Community Stadium to the Emirates.

They did so with coaches Inaki Cana and Nicolas Jover, as well as players like David Raya and Christian Norgaard.

Taking a look at Brentford again in the upcoming summer transfer window would not be a bad idea at all, and one name stands out more than others – Michael Kayode.

Arsenal must sign Michael Kayode from Brentford in the summer

Brentford have many impressive players, but nobody has caught our eye more than Kayode this season.

The 21-year-old, who was signed permanently by the Bees for €17.5 million (£15m) after an initial loan spell, has been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season.

Apart from being solid at both ends of the pitch in open play, Kayode possesses an incredible weapon – long throws.

Even Mikel Arteta seemed impressed by them during the game between Arsenal and Brentford on Thursday night.

While discussing the draw, the Gunners boss mentioned those long throws and claimed that he could only ‘pray’ once his side conceded them.

Arteta said, as per Arsenal.com: “Against them, that (controlling the game) is not enough, because they just need somebody making a foul that is unnecessary. A ball in the channel, they push you.

“If the clearance is not good, the ball goes for a throw-in. Then you have to pray, because they are exceptional at what they do.”

Arsenal don’t have anyone capable of producing such long throws, which is why Arteta should tell Andrea Berta to bring Kayode in this summer.

Arsenal already have Michael Kayode on their transfer radar

Arsenal have a phenomenal recruitment team, and they are usually aware of every emerging talent across Europe.

Back in 2023, the Gunners had already begun scouting Kayode when he was still in Italy with Fiorentina.

Fast forward to 2026, reports in January claimed that Kayode’s agents are in talks with Arsenal over a potential switch.

With Ben White linked with a move away from Arsenal, we think signing Kayode makes a lot of sense, and his performance on Thursday night must have convinced Arteta that he is good enough.

It now remains to be seen if the Gunners will make a move to sign him in the summer.
