The Arsenal contract decision that could be bigger than any new signing

Arsenal have an expectation from fans to go big in the transfer market this summer.

Mikel Arteta was not given the striker he desperately craved back in January and fans were furious at the Kroenkes for that decision to keep funds back for the summer window.

Now the time has come for Andrea Berta to flex Arsenal’s muscles in the market and provide the firepower needed for trophies.

Arsenal are in talks to sign Benjamin Sesko and it is expected that Martin Zubimendi will be announced after a medical has taken place. However, there is a contract decision in-house that could eclipse any new signing at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Arsenal must persuade Ethan Nwaneri to sign a new contract

Ethan Nwaneri’s Arsenal future is uncertain after the teenage star has become worried about his pathway to the first-team squad.

Arsenal could receive just £1.5m for Nwaneri should he choose to run down his contract and leave on a free transfer.

The Gunners simply have to persuade the Hale End graduate that his future is at Arsenal given the way he has taken the Premier League and Champions League by storm this season.

At just 18 years of age, he is already one of world football’s brightest young prospects and the club cannot allow him to slip from their grasp if they are serious about winning major honours.

Nwaneri’s opportunities were limited towards the end of the season and he has competition with Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka for his two positions however, he will be given the chance to shine and progress under Arteta.

What Joe Cole said about Ethan Nwaneri

Joe Cole’s high praise for Nwaneri should tell Arsenal exactly the type of player they have on their hands after Cole hailed the Gunners star as ‘England’s brightest prospect’.

Speaking to TNT Sports back in February, Cole stated: “Ethan Nwaneri is probably the brightest young player in the country and this might be an opportunity for him to step up.”

If Arsenal want to be taken seriously as a club that wants to compete among Europe’s elite then they simply cannot afford to lose their best young talent.

The club want to attract world-class signings, the only way of doing that is to show that your best players are committed and ready to give everything for the club. Arsenal cannot fumble Ethan Nwaneri’s future.
