Arsenal have made Benjamin Sesko their number one striker target after weeks of negotiations.
Viktor Gyokeres is open to Manchester United in a clear message that Arsenal are pushing hard to complete a deal for Sesko.
Chuba Akpom thinks Arsenal should sign Gyokeres but Andrea Berta has started the transfer window decisively and appears to have his mind up with Mikel Arteta.
Supporters have been desperate for the Gunners to sign a world-class striker and whilst Sesko may not be the finished article, there’s a reason the club are splashing the cash on the Slovenian.

RB Leipzig lower asking price for Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko
Arteta is desperate for a striker and was throughout the whole of last season, injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus dashed any hopes of landing the Premier League title.
According to German outlet BILD, RB Leipzig have dropped their asking price for Sesko and are now willing to accept a deal worth £59.7m.
| Career stats | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Sesko | 224 | 100 | 26 |
The reported £59.7m fee would be less than what the club paid for Havertz back in 2023 and for a forward with such a high ceiling, Berta needs to go ahead and complete the deal.
The Slovenian scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, including four in the Champions League and his physical profile is something that Arteta admires and wants at the Emirates Stadium.
Benjamin Sesko part of Arsenal’s long-term vision
At just 22 years of age, a £59.7m deal for Sesko would represent excellent business in the current market given some inflated prices paid for players in recent seasons.
Arteta would be getting a striker that has already proven he can score at the top level and would have time to improve any facets of his game that still need working on.
Given the right guidance in North London, Sesko could be the Gunners number nine for the next ten years, then that hefty transfer fee would have been paid back over and over again.
The manager is keen to have his centre forward through the door before the club departs for their pre-season tour of Asia. It is time for Arsenal fans to get excited once more.
