Arsenal just can’t seem to decide between Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko in an early transfer window dilemma.
The bottom line is that the Gunners need a new number nine after Mikel Arteta pleaded for a striker in January.
Sporting director Andrea Berta admires Gyokeres, but the Sweden international isn’t the only name on Arsenal’s wishlist.
Over in Germany, there has been confidence that Arsenal will sign Benjamin Sesko, who has been on Arteta’s radar for some time.
Already, there have been twists and turns regarding the North Londoners’ reported pursuit of both targets, but for one player who knows Arsenal better than most, there’s only one choice.

Chuba Akpom stresses that Arsenal must sign Viktor Gyokeres
Rarely does a former player speak so openly about who their ex-club should target in the transfer window.
For Hale End product Chuba Akpom, the verdict is in, as when speaking to content creator Dylan White, the Arsenal academy graduate waxed lyrical about Gyokeres.
When White asked Akpom who the Gunners should sign between Sesko and Gyokeres, the 29-year-old did not hesitate to share his reasons for favouring the Swede.
“Gyokeres for me, and it’s not even close to be honest. It’s subjective, you can talk about age with Sesko, but Gyokeres is ready now.”
Akpom went on to explain his first-hand experience with Gyokeres, noting that he played against the Sporting CP marksman when he was at Coventry City before moving to Portugal.
“I’ve played against him in the Championship, he took Coventry to the play-offs basically on his own, and he’s gone to Portugal and he’s scored like 50 goals both seasons.”
Ironically, Akpom outscored Gyokeres in the Championship that season, but the former Gunner, whom Unai Emery sold, has no doubts that the Sweden international can offer Arteta something immediate.
“If Arsenal are looking for now, then it’s Gyokeres, if Arsenal had Gyokeres the past two seasons, I’m not saying they would’ve won the league…I think Gyokeres is a beast, and we need him now.”
Given that Arsenal’s talks with Sesko have stalled, there’s a good chance that Akpom’s wishes could come true with regard to Gyokeres.

Akpom says Rodrygo could complete a ‘dream’ front three
Akpom is dreaming of a life that consists of Gyokeres leading the line for his boyhood club, but that’s not the striker’s only wish.
The former Gunner, who is currently on loan at LOSC Lille from Ajax, opened up about his desire for Berta to also sign Rodrygo.
“I would love Rodrygo on the left, my dream is Rodrygo, Gyokeres and Saka, that front three is deadly. We don’t need one more player [after that].”
Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid is complicated and is something those in N5 will be desperate to exploit this summer.
Akpom’s dreams have a real chance of coming true, with all eyes on what card Berta plays next.
