Why Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United exit could re-open three transfer doors for Arsenal

Ruben Amorim is no longer the Manchester United manager after his dismal 14 month spell in charge was ended today.

Amorim was always fighting an uphill battle and after inconsistent performances once again this season and some bizarre comments in the media, he has finally been given the boot.

Indeed, Amorim was correct in predicting he’d not get the time that Mikel Arteta has had at Arsenal.

Forget Sesko and Gyokeres, why didn’t Andrea Berta sign _________ instead?

However, while eyes are firmly on what has happened at Old Trafford, it’s worth noting that United actually signed three players in the summer who were on Arsenal’s radar.

Now, with Amorim gone, could this actually see Arsenal go back in to land some past targets?

Why Arsenal could look at Manchester United trio after Ruben Amorim exit

Arsenal’s squad is brilliant as it is and on the surface, Man United don’t really have any players who make the first XI at The Emirates.

However, that’s not to say that the Red Devils don’t have talents who Arsenal have courted.

In fact, all the current front three of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have all been on Arsenal’s radar in the past 18 months at least.

Now, with Amorim gone having been backed to sign all three, there could well be a window of opportunity for Arsenal should they feel they still want any of those players.

Furthermore, with Viktor Gyokeres continuing to come under pressure, adding another forward in the summer window especially might well be of interest to the Gunners.

Who Arsenal should sign out of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko

We all know Sesko thought he was on his way to Arsenal before signing for United but just like Gyokeres, he has struggled to make an impact.

Right now, signing Sesko and giving up Gyokeres seems a bit backwards in terms of thinking and it would be a big surprise to see Arsenal go back in.

Bryan Mbeumo has arguably been the biggest success of the three United signings and Arsenal wanted him last summer as well. However, with Arsenal flush in terms of talents out wide, Mbeumo is likely to be ignored.

In one sentence, tell us who Arsenal’s most improved player has been this season.

However, when it comes to former Wolves man Cunha, this is where Arsenal might hold an interest.

Arsenal wanted Cunha as recently as last year and while the goals haven’t flown at United for the Brazilian, there is a feeling among United fans that he is a good signing.

At 26, Cunha is coming into what should be his prime years and while he might take big cash to prise away, he fits Arsenal’s system and way of playing better than the other two.

Of course, signing any of these three is going to take some doing. But with United’s dire financial situation and any new manager likely to want new faces once again, it seems sales will happen.

Arsenal, then, need to be ready to capitalise.
