David Raya is set to sign a new contract at Arsenal, which will see him receive a significant pay rise.

Andrea Berta has offered Raya improved terms, although the Spanish goalkeeper will remain contracted to the North London club until 2028.

The number one will become the fifth player to be tied down to a new contract under the Italian sporting director, while Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber are expected to follow suit.

Arsenal Insider also revealed that Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice could also be offered new deals in the upcoming months.

With that said, here are four players who may be impacted by Raya’s new contract.

Winners from David Raya’s new contract

Tommy Setford

With Raya’s new contract not including an extension in the number of years he’ll be at Arsenal, 19-year-old shot-stopper Tommy Setford could stand to prosper.

The youngster is currently the Gunners’ number three, but could easily be promoted to a more senior role once the number one’s deal expires in 2028.

Setford has the opportunity to learn and develop under Raya over the coming years, and perhaps even go on loan to experience first-team football, before returning to play a prominent role at the Emirates in the future.

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz is currently recovering from a knee injury, but should return to action in November.

Given Viktor Gyokeres hasn’t exactly hit the ground running in a red and white shirt, the German can expect to play plenty of football when fit, and he’s someone who relies on Raya’s accurate long distribution to thrive.

The Spain international regularly looks to go long to play to Havertz’s aerial strengths, and thus, the former Chelsea man will be delighted that this partnership can now continue in the foreseeable future.

Losers from David Raya’s new contract

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Arsenal signed Kepa Arrizabalaga for £5 million in the summer.

The ex-Chelsea star’s arrival came as a shock to many, given his calibre and the presence of Raya, but it’s possible that he harboured hopes of succeeding his compatriot in the long-term.

Given Kepa is a year Raya’s senior, the first choice’s new contract likely diminishes any hope the back-up would’ve had of usurping the elite shot-stopper.

Aaron Ramsdale

On a slightly unconventional note, Aaron Ramsdale may be hurting after seeing the news of Raya’s new deal.

The England international was supposed to be Arsenal’s number one for many years after signing his own lucrative contract at the Emirates just months before Raya arrived.

However, he was brutally replaced by Raya, who has not only taken his place but succeeded brilliantly, and established himself as the undisputed number one in an excellent Gunners team.

It’ll certainly sting Ramsdale.
