Arsenal star Granit Xhaka has urged his teammates to be more clever in games away from the Emirates.

The Gunners seem to have turned a corner after what was a terrible start to the season. We were rock bottom after the first three games, but an excellent run of form and a big win over West Ham this week has pushed us up to fourth in the Premier League table.

It’s not always that there’s a lot of positivity around Arsenal, but that is the case right now. It’s a great time to be a Gooner, but Xhaka has urged everyone not to get carried away as there’s still one key area where we need to improve.

Granit Xhaka: Arsenal have to improve away from home

The Swiss international said, as per The Evening Standard: “We are looking much better at home, but if you want to be in the top four you have to win and you have to take points away as well.

“Hopefully, this starts on Saturday at Leeds. We have to improve away, we have to be more clever, more solid.

“We can’t play every time the same game at home and away, we have to be more clever and this starts from the experienced players to the young guys.”

Arsenal’s form: Home v Away

In the Premier League this season, Arsenal have played nine times at the Emirates. We’ve won seven games, lost one and drawn the other. We’ve scored 17 goals, conceded just six and kept five clean sheets, which is a fantastic record.

Away from home, however, our record is awful.

We’ve played eight league games on the road this term and won just twice. We’ve scored six goals but conceded 16, which is a terrible record. We only average 0.88 points per game away from home, which is absolutely unacceptable.

Xhaka’s right, Arsenal have to improve on the road. If we don’t, we will not finish anywhere near the top four.
