Arsenal captain Alexandre Lacazette has had his say on the changes at the club since Mikel Arteta was appointed as the manager.

The Gunners parted ways with Unai Emery in November 2019 and Arteta was appointed about a month later. He has had to go through a lot, but it has to be said that we’re in a very good position now thanks to him.

Lacazette was asked about working under Arteta and the Frenchman claimed he has completely changed the mentality of our club.

Alexandre Lacazette: Mikel Arteta is the boss of Arsenal

Lacazette, who recently took over the Arsenal captaincy, sat down for an interview with Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo this week.

Asked about his manager. the Frenchman said: “Arteta is the leader, the boss, even the boss of the club.

“Since he arrived, a lot of things have changed, including the mentality of the whole world… It’s all about him.”

Speaking about the season, he said: “We are focused on being in the top four. We want to put the team in the Champions League next season. We work for it throughout the week and at the moment, it is working. We want to continue like this, work hard every day to play well over the weekend.”

The Insider’s View:

Mikel Arteta deserves immense praise for everything he has done at Arsenal.

This is the Spaniard’s first-ever job as a manager and he has arguably had to go through more hardships than most coaches in the history of the game.

Over the last two-and-a-half years, the pandemic, changes at the club – on the pitch and behind and the scenes -, disciplinary issues and inconsistency almost cost him his job on numerous occasions.

However, he continued to believe in his methods and we’re now seeing why the likes of Pep Guardiola have always raved about him.
