The Sun claimed at the end of last month that Arsenal have shown interest in signing Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann this summer.
The Gunners are on the market looking for a new shot-stopper. Bernd Leno is our only experienced option at the moment and going into the new season with just him is a massive risk.
Arsenal are trying hard to bring someone in by Friday, but it’s unlikely. However, Edu and Mikel Arteta will surely sign a new goalkeeper before the end of the transfer window, but it won’t be Bachmann, if his comments are to be believed.

Arsenal-linked Bachmann: I will not leave Watford
The Austrian, who impressed at Euro 2020, is reportedly attracting interest from multiple clubs. However, he has no interest in leaving Watford ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Bachmann told Sky Sports Austria’s Die Abstauber show: “There have been a few calls after the Euros. But it was clear to me from the start that I would not change, no matter what offers [arrive].
“Because I’m enjoying the situation at Watford right now and want to play in the Premier League for a year. I want to establish myself here. As far as my last few years and how it has developed, that would fit very well.”

The Insider’s View:
The rumours about Bachmann surprised many Arsenal fans when it first emerged. It was pretty clear that a move was unrealistic – not because he doesn’t want to leave Watford, but as the Gunners need someone a lot better.
Don’t get us wrong, Bachmann is a good goalkeeper. Labelled as ‘fantastic‘ by Vladimir Ivic, the Austrian was excellent for Watford and played a massive part in helping them achieve promotion to the Premier League.

However, we need someone who is either on the same level as Leno or is even better than him. Sadly, Bachmann is not that man and it’s good to know that this move will not happen this summer.
