Talksport pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back into the side.
The Gabon star was banished from the squad after his disciplinary breach last month. Aubameyang hasn’t played a game for us since December 6, and it doesn’t look like he ever will.
Agbonlahor, however, just cannot understand why Arteta is so reluctant to reintegrate Auba into the squad. He has urged the Arsenal boss to ‘stop being stubborn’ as he believes that the 32-year-old could make a real difference in the top four race if he’s allowed to play again.
Watford Hiring Roy Hodgson Is A Joke.
Agbonlahor: Arsenal boss Arteta should forgive Aubameyang
The ex-Aston Villa man said on Talksport: “When Aubameyang was banished, they were scoring, weren’t they? So, Arsenal fans didn’t really question it. Now they’re not scoring. Lacazette isn’t scoring, [Eddie] Nketiah isn’t scoring. It’s time to bring him back.
“If they don’t bring in another striker with five days left of the transfer window, they need to bring Aubameyang back in because he could be the difference to get them into the top-four and Champions League football.
“You can’t just have him sitting there on his own training if there are no goals coming from Lacazette or Nketiah. It doesn’t make sense – stop being stubborn, and bring him back in.”
The Insider’s View:
If Arsenal cannot bring in a top-quality striker in the next four days, Arteta should really consider bringing Aubameyang back into the mix.
The Gabon star may have crossed the line with whatever he did and rumours tell us that it wasn’t the first time. However, we are struggling for goals and if there’s one thing Aubameyang does when his confidence is high, he scores regularly.
Aubameyang will now be hungrier than ever to prove his doubters wrong. That is a huge positive if we bring him back into the side, but knowing Arteta and what he has done over the last two years with Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi, it doesn’t look like it will happen.
