The Daily Mail claimed back in April that Arsenal are battling a whole host of top clubs to sign Inter Milan’s 20-year-old striker Martin Satriano.
The same outlet revealed three weeks ago that the Gunners are still keen, but now face some serious competition from fellow Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Everton.
The 20-year-old is very highly rated at Inter. He is viewed by many as the future of the Nerazzurri’s attack, but Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez’s presence is blocking his route to the first team.
That has increased the speculation surrounding his future. He could well be on his way to the Premier League this summer, but English fans don’t really know a lot about him. His agent, Nick Maytum, has given an insight into his client’s playing style, and he has compared him to Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema.
Arsenal target Martin Satriano is like Karim Benzema
Maytum told Calciomercato: “Whenever there is a great striker from Uruguay, everyone talks about Suarez and Cavani. I think that his (Satriano’s) characteristics are different than Suarez.
“Martin can play both as a number 10 and as a number 9. Let’s say he is a nine-and-a-half. We can consider him more like Benzema.
“More like Lautaro (Martinez) than (Romelu) Lukaku? Yes, he plays quite similar to Lautaro. He trained a lot with the Inter first-team and learned a lot from Lautaro, Lukaku and the other great players.”

The Insider’s View:
This isn’t the first time Arsenal have tried to sign Satriano. Back in January 2020, barely a month after Mikel Arteta had taken over the club, the Gunners tried to sign the young striker, but his agent revealed recently that he rejected a move to North London. (Sempre Inter)
Satriano seems to have learnt a fair bit from the likes of Lukaku and Martinez at Inter, but he will always be behind them in the pecking order. If he wants regular game time, he will have to move on this summer, but Arsenal isn’t the right place for him either.

The Gunners already have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun up top. Even if we sell two of them, there’s no need for a youngster like Satriano to come in, even though he may be the next Karim Benzema.
