While Arsenal may have appeared to get all their business over the line, they may not be finished in the final days of the transfer market.

So far, Andrea Berta has already strengthened in almost every area across the pitch, whether that’s with guaranteed starters or quality depth options.

It seems as though his next job is to look at sales, with four Arsenal stars left out of the Leeds squad, which is likely to kickstart some exits in the last week of the market.

That’s not to say that there won’t be a chance to pounce on some opportunities that may appear before everything closes again.

Now, one of those chances to pounce in the market has been revealed, as Arsenal are keeping tabs on the situation of one defender, who almost seems certain to move now.

Arsenal chasing potential Piero Hincapie transfer after hint at exit

Arsenal’s work in the transfer market may not be done just yet, as several targets could still be available before it closes.

With that in mind, BILD in Germany reports that Arsenal and Chelsea are among those showing interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie.

The 23-year-old centre-back could be free to leave the club in the coming days, after four successful years with the Bundesliga outfit.

Sky Sports in Germany reported that Hincapie has a release clause worth roughly £52 million, which can be activated this summer.

The Ecuadorian international was spotted in tears after Bayer Leverkusen’s opening day defeat to Hoffenheim.

It could well suggest that a move is expected, bringing an emotional end to his long journey with the club.

Piero Hincapie would be an ideal Jakub Kiwior replacement for Arsenal

There may be an idea that Arsenal’s backline is already perfected, but some transfer exits could turn that around.

While Cristhian Mosquera has come in, he largely fills a gap left on the right of the defence, replacing Takehiro Tomiyasu after he left Arsenal.

The left of defence is currently covered by Jakub Kiwior, though he now faces an uncertain future.

Kiwior has been linked with a transfer exit, but that would leave a gap which could be filled by Hincapie quite nicely.

It’s unclear just how affordable that would be for the Gunners, but it would certainly provide a promising option on that side of the defence.
