Arsenal are set to sell several fringe players in this summer transfer window, including players who spent last season out on loan.
With a deal for defender Riccardo Calafiori, who can play at left-back, edging closer, Arsenal need to shift some of their other options in the position.
Kieran Tierney spent last season out on loan at Real Sociedad, but having picked up an injury at Euro 2024, the defender could have a summer transfer away scuppered.
Another left-back could leave though, as transfer interest grows in Nuno Tavares, who spent last season at Nottingham Forest.
Ajax register interest in Arsenal flop Nuno Tavares
It has now been reported by Sky Sports that Dutch giants Ajax are interested in signing Nuno Tavares this summer.
“Ajax are considering a move for Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares,” they revealed.
“The former Portugal U21 international has returned to the Emirates after spending last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
“Tavares joined Arsenal from Benfica three years ago but has made just 28 appearances for the Gunners.”
Tavares moved to Arsenal for around £7m, but failed to impress in his one season in North London, before he was loaned out to Olympique Marseille then Forest.
Arsenal need to part ways with Nuno Tavares

Tavares has shown rare glimpses of his talent in his loan spells, but ultimately disappointed in both, with Forest electing not to activate the option to buy in his contract.
The 23-year-old was criticised during his spell at Marseille, with French media outlet Cour Marseilleas pointing out that he was even “getting worse and worse” over the course of the season.
“It’s the case of the Portuguese, who frustrates both in his choices and his attitude. On the left, he often made the wrong choices, lost 25 balls through poor passes or wrong runs,” they pointed out.
“The worst remains his attitude, nonchalant in defence. He jogs and doesn’t seem bothered.”
It is clear that Tavares has no future at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, and the club will likely have to make a loss on him if he moves to Ajax.
Arsenal were interested in Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, and it will be interesting to see whether Tavares is considered a long-term replacement for the Dutchman.
