Arsenal’s summer transfer plans are set to heavily involve their move for a striker, as Andrea Berta looks to add more goals to the frontline.

The centre-forward position is one that the Gunners have been lacking for some time, with a clinical option missing for Mikel Arteta in recent seasons.

With that in mind, the Arsenal hierarchy are looking to fix that as they enter the summer transfer window.

Viktor Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a transfer to Arsenal, along with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak.

However, there have also been talks surrounding a move for Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike.

Hugo Ekitike is planning to leave Eintracht Frankfurt amid Arsenal transfer talks

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Hugo Ekitike in the summer transfer window, with the striker impressing over the past season.

The forward has been among the top scorers in the Bundesliga this campaign, helping Eintracht Frankfurt register a third-place finish and a return to the Champions League.

After such an impressive campaign, Arsenal have held talks with intermediaries about Ekitike, eyeing the possibility of a deal.

With that in mind, Florian Plettenberg reports that the 22-year-old is planning on leaving Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.

His club have a different idea, though, being keen to keep hold of him but setting a price at €100 million (roughly £84 million) should an interested party make a move.

It certainly opens up the possibility of Arsenal making the switch for the young striker, who could grow into a top option for the side.

There are still plenty of questions to be asked about his suitability, price and whether he would suit the Premier League, though.

How good is Hugo Ekitike, and should Arsenal sign him?

Hugo Ekitike is among the most promising young strikers in Europe right now, having hit an impressive run of form at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The forward struggled to make an impact at PSG during his spell there, before moving from Ligue 1 to the Bundesliga.

While Ekitike received few opportunities last season, he picked up more chances this campaign, becoming a more regular starter.

With 15 goals and eight assists in 33 matches in the Bundesliga, the French youth international has proven he can hit the heights.

However, he appears to be in the category of high-potential signings rather than the current ability that Arsenal need to win a title now.

It means the Gunners may be risking everything to develop Ekitike, giving him time in the Premier League, rather than landing someone who can make a more guaranteed impact right away.
