Arsenal could feel a sense of deja vu soon after missing out on Morgan Rogers.

Mikel Arteta really wanted to sign the England international this summer, but his side’s valuation of the player was significantly lower than Aston Villa’s demands.

Chelsea, however, had no problems paying £117 million, a figure Arsenal refused to match and walked away from the deal.

Rogers was left with only one option in the end, and he agreed to join the Blues. Now, another Arsenal target could do the same.

Arsenal target Alex Scott wants to join Chelsea

Alex Scott has been a target for Arsenal and many other Premier League clubs this summer.

The Englishman was outstanding for Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola last season, and he showed that he is good enough to play for bigger clubs.

Fabrizio Romano revealed in June that Arsenal had spoken to Bournemouth over a move for the £80 million-rated Scott.

Nothing has progressed since, and it looks like Chelsea have overtaken the Gunners in the race again.

Standard Sport have revealed that Scott wants to join the Blues this summer and has rejected Bournemouth’s latest contract offer.

Chelsea have lodged a bid already, worth £64 million, but the Cherries have turned that down and are insisting that he is not for sale.

It remains to be seen how this will develop, but Arsenal’s chances of signing Scott look slim now considering that they haven’t made any move since holding initial talks.

Arsenal may have given up on Alex Scott

Arsenal’s interest in Scott is completely understandable after how good he was for Bournemouth last season. He even scored against the Gunners.

However, it looks like the Premier League champions have put their interest to one side.

That is because Arsenal’s main midfield target right now is Bruno Guimaraes, for whom a third bid has been sent in recent days.

It seems very clear that the Gunners want him, which is why everything is quiet between them and Scott at this moment in time.

It remains to be seen if that will change if Newcastle reject the third bid and shut the door completely.
