Arsenal fans all know Fabrizio Romano as the guy who brings them transfer news.
The Italian journalist has exclusively revealed several high-profile transfers over the years, all of which couldn’t have been done without contacts across the football world.
Romano has close ties with agents, people close to footballers, and in some cases, the players themselves.
What is now surprising, however, is that the transfer guru had former Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar’s phone number too, and that helped Arsenal sign Leandro Trossard.
If Leandro Trossard isn’t Arsenal’s most clutch player, who is? 🤔
How Fabrizio Romano helped Leandro Trossard get his move to Arsenal
During the 2022/23 season, Trossard fell out with Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton and Hove Albion and was banished from the squad.
His agent at the time, Josy Comhair, was looking for clubs interested in his client. He even flew to France to get Marseille to sign him.
At the same time, Arsenal were trying to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, but Chelsea hijacked that deal in the 11th hour.
Comhair saw an opportunity and wanted the Gunners to have a look at the ‘very underrated’ Trossard, but he didn’t know how to contact the North London club.

That is when the agent turned to Romano, who gave Edu’s number in exchange for exclusive details about the deal.
Comhair said, as quoted by Sportwitness: “But I didn’t have the number of Arsenal’s sporting director. So, I asked Fabrizio Romano, the transfer guru. He gave it to me on the condition that he could know everything.
“When Arsenal called a little later, I was sitting on a paint can thinking.”
Comhair is not Trossard’s agent anymore. The Belgian is currently represented by Fokus – by DHSE and Cracksman.
👀 TRUE or FALSE: Arsenal MUST SELL Leandro Trossard this summer…
Leandro Trossard has been one of Arsenal’s most value-for-money signings under Mikel Arteta
Mikel Arteta has made plenty of signings since becoming Arsenal’s manager in December 2019, but very few have been more cost-effective.
The Belgian has directly contributed to 70 goals in 105 starts, which is an exceptional return for a player who has never really been the first-choice.
Those numbers look even better when you consider the fact that Arsenal paid an initial fee of just £20 million to sign Trossard.
That makes him one of Arteta’s best value-for-money signings since he took charge of the club over six years ago.
