Arsenal are reportedly considering a late swoop for an “exceptional” Premier League forward to fill in for the injured Kai Havertz.

Kai Havertz is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury, leaving Arsenal with just Viktor Gyokeres as a recognised centre-forward.

Havertz missed Arsenal’s opening training session ahead of the clash against Leeds United this weekend, as did Ben White and Christian Norgaard.

David Ornstein recently reported that Arsenal could suddenly change their transfer plans due to Havertz’s injury, with a new forward likely to move up the wish list.

And according to a new report, the Gunners are now set to rekindle their interest in one of Aston Villa’s key players as a potential Havertz replacement.

Arsenal reportedly weighing up Morgan Rogers move

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a late swoop for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, according to The Sun.

Arsenal have been interested in Rogers for some time and, with Villa having had some PSR issues, there’s potentially some scope for a deal to take place.

Havertz’s injury blow could well expedite Arsenal’s pursuit of Rogers, who has become one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League.

The report also claims that Villa value Rogers at £80million and are ‘unlikely to entertain offers below that price.’

Why Arsenal might struggle to sign Morgan Rogers this summer

As good as it would be for Arsenal to sign Rogers, there are a few reasons why it may prove a difficult deal to pull off.

First of all, Villa rate Rogers very highly and, having just parted company with Jacob Ramsey, they will not want to risk upsetting the fan base further by selling another fan favourite.

In addition, Rogers signed a new Villa contract just last year, and it runs until 2030, meaning the Villans’ hand would be incredibly strong in negotiations for the “exceptional” player.

And while Rogers is a very versatile player, he doesn’t have much experience of playing at centre-forward, which means there could be better – and less expensive – options Arsenal could look at.
